Modem Testing Plan - Draft This document describes the modem testing plan for the Bluebox project. Testing period: two months starting May 16th. Evaluation units have been requested from Microcom, Multitech, Racal-Datacom, Telebit, U.S. Robotics, and Hayes. Given this number of vendors and the time frame involved, we can have each in service for at least one-week periods. Evaluation Criteria: -Adherance to specifications laid out in the modem RFP. -Functionality with existing (CPTs, DADNs) and Bluebox services -Management system capibility -ability to configure modems -examineing -useage tracking -error condition tracking -ability to remotely manage modems -use of management PC remotely (ex. DVX, PC-Anywhere) -SNMP -SNMP Mib functionality -size of managable pool -Are any modem features dependant on the management platform being operational? -Physical characteristics -Size of racks -Rack mounting -Density (cards per rack and modems per card) I'm assuming denser is better. Any other opinions? -Power requirments -Heat load -Costs -Equipment (including V.34 upgrades) -Support -Support Contracts -Do we stock spares ourselves?
