Subject: Anybody want to work on MIT Library Projects?

As you may know, before I took on team leadership for Deliver Athena and
the Athena Backup system, I was the principal developer for the
collaboration between IS and the MIT Libraries: The Distributed Library
Initiative.

I got to be the principal architect and developer for a system that
delivers page images to Athena workstations, and in prototype, over the
web -- first of Materials Science Journals, and later of other kinds of
content.

I got to be the principal integrator of the Willow search and retrieval
system which gives search ability to Athena workstations of the Medline
database and others.

I got to help with the sanity checking and the ongoing collaboration
with the supplier of the new Libary system.

I got to work on full text search services for the Libraries and the
campus as a whole.

I got to help define the NISO Z39.50 Search and Retrieval protocol as
part of the Z39.50 implementors group.

----

But I don't have as much time to work on these as I used to. I was
wondering if any of you, readers of the dcns-dev mailing list, have
interest in working on Library projects? There are many design,
development, system integration, sanity checking, delivery, service, and
support tasks that are sitting in my queue waiting for a skilled hand to
take them forward into the hands of our eager library users.

If you're interested email, or visit me.
