After upgarding to libc 5.2.16 and the JDK pre2 release my Slackware 3.0 refused all login attempts. Something like ` root refused to login from this tty ' appeared. When i tried to login as a normal user nothing happend at all (although the HD seemed to be busy for a while, but after that ... silence). The "damage" was repaired a few hours later (going back to libc 5.0.9 and pre0 with ld.so.1.7.11 and libgmalloc), but nevertheless I would appreciate any hints what might have caused this annoying behaviour and how to circumvent it (if possible).
