HA,

does anybody know where I can find libc with profiling info?
Or do I have to compile it myself with the correct gcc-flags?

Please e-mail response.

Thanks,

Jak

i'll bet you don't really mean "threads are supported in the linux libc",
do you? is all of libc (malloc, printf, ctime etc) thread-safe? adding
thread creation calls (ala pthreads) does not make the rest safe.

It's not really about "would be". Alan Cox is known to work on it. The

   Umm.. What 'resources'? Linux ain't a company y'know, it's a hobby.. If

The point seems moot. A donation of four BeBox's to the PowerPC
Linux port people (i.e. the 'limited resources') just happened
(as the Be guys told me during a demo Friday), so it looks like
they will be supporting the platform, hopefully with SMP support.

Check <http://www.be.com> for the announcement.

I suspect a mb problem rather than the DX120 from reading the FAQ at AMD on the

Anybody got a good recomendation for a DX120 mb vlb?

I'm having trouble compiling the 1.2.13 kernel with gcc 2.7.2 as well.

Here's what I get:

foo:/usr/src/linux# make zImage

It compiles just fine under 2.6.3. Any ideas? Suggestions?

Seems to be a spelling mistake - I fixed it to "host_byte". Allthough
I'm not sure that the fix is correct, it wount do much harm, since it
appears in a diagnostic printing routine.

Isn't that a violation of the iso9660 standard? I thought that all
filenames on iso9660 discs are in upper case only.
The rockridge extensions added the capability for mixed-case names.
Of course I *don't* suggest to make the rockridge filesystem
case-insensitive :-)
Anyway, it can be selected by a mount option.

Subject: HELP Make won't work with new kernel.
Date: 18 Dec 1995 02:49:14 GMT

I have recently upgraded to ppp 2.2.0a but in the process I
had to upgrade my kernel. I had the 1.3.20 source around and
compiled the new ppp module into it. After rebooting the
new kernel I noticed that make would not compile any targets
unless the makefile file explicitly given.

i.e.

root@mole.comnet.ca:/usr/src/linux> make zImage
make: *** No rule to make target `zImage'. Stop.

but,

root@mole.comnet.ca:/usr/src/linux> make -f Makefile zImage
rm -f include/asm
make: *** [symlinks] Interrupt
( I purposely interrupted it... )

I got the 1.3.47 source and tried compiling it but the same problem
occurs, I have also tried other makefiles and stuff.

I'm working on a 486 with slackware 3.0 and these commands used to
work with the old 1.2.13 kernel.

Any suggestion/comments?

Kevin Moule
