Still, the 35-stock group has retained most of its increase from early this year and can claim a 24% gain for 1992. Kysor Indus- trial Corp. is one of the few stocks in the group that has managed to continue climbing despite the recovery's anemic pace. It has gained more than 140% since Jan. 1 on a turnaround in earnings. Cadillac, Mich.-based Kysor makes heavy-duty vehicle and marine components as well as refrigerated display cases. The company is expected to post a profit of $1.35 a share this year, compared with a 35-cent deficit in 1991. Superior Industries International Inc. has managed to hang on to a 60% gain for the year, despite a five-month slump. The stock had been a strong performer, more than tripling from less than 8 in January 1991 until it peaked in May at 301/2. Superior, whose chief product is aluminum car wheels, has had a deceleration in its earnings growth for the past three quarters. This article is copyright 1992 Investors Business Daily.
