The city attorney will draft an ordinance on seismic upgrading and bring it back to the council for a vote at an unspecified time, city spokeswoman Ann Erdman said. The ordinance would affect about 475 buildings. City officials had identified the unreinforced masonry buildings in accordance with state law. Single-family homes and complexes with four or fewer units would be exempt. This article is copyright 1992 The Los Angeles Times Home Edition.
