The largest grant, $17,500, will go to UC Santa Cruz toward a project designed to preserve the films of Oscar-winning Indian filmmaker Satyajit Ray. Other recipients ($5,000 each) include the Los Angeles Film Institute, New York University's Tisch School of the Arts, Writers Workshop of Los Angeles and the University of Southern Mississippi.
