It was the other way around Monday in London when two U.S. productions took major honors at the 1992 Evening Standard Drama Awards, putting an American stamp on the customarily British theatrical occasion. Tony Kushner's "Angels in America," which has just opened at the Mark Taper Forum in Los Angeles, was named best play. John Kander and Fred Ebb's "Kiss of the Spider Woman," which is playing London before a Broadway opening next spring, won as best musical. Kushner arrived in London from Los Angeles to accept his award. Chita Rivera, who stars as "Spider Woman," accepted the musical honors.
