Robertson--containing about 100 more signatures than were needed--was filed at City Hall this week. It was submitted by fellow council members Alex F. Rodriguez, Joseph Graffio, David M. Silva and Mayor Jack Cluck. City Manager Jack M. Joseph said he has a month to verify the names on the petition, but that he hopes to complete the task by the Dec. 7 council meeting. If 698 of the 831 signatures are verified, a special election would take place sometime in March to determine whether Robertson will continue to serve on the council, Joseph said. The election would cost the city about $15,000. The petition says Robertson, 51, has "repeatedly shown insensitivity to the needs of Cudahy residents" by voting against food giveaways, a senior citizen hot-meal program and a new McDonald's restaurant. Robertson has said the action by the four other council members is an attempt to create a dictatorship in the city. This article is copyright 1992 The Los Angeles Times Home Edition.
