Knowing something was the reason I called. I had just learned that our signatures, which to save time we had sent to Tom Hayden's headquarters on a blank sheet of paper, were displayed on a letter we had assumed would be a routine endorsement of Hayden's qualifications, not O'Neill's purported lack of same. As for "publicly quitting the Hayden campaign," this suggests that we would no longer support Hayden, which we do.
