Five-time winner Ivan Lendl and John McEnroe lost in the European
Community tournament at Antwerp, Belgium. Lendl was upset by Mark
Woodforde of Australia, 6-4, 6-2, and McEnroe fell to Petr Korda of
Czechoslovakia, 6-4, 6-4. . . . Russia's Andrei Cherkasov advanced to the
quarterfinals of the Kremlin Cup at Moscow by defeating David Wheaton,
6-4, 7-6. Others reaching the quarterfinals were Andrei Medvedev and Marc
Rosset.
