Bill Clinton offering to shake hands with a veteran who had lost his arm and asking for his vote. Bill Garner's signature on the cartoon obviously identifes an extremely sick mind. The cartoon was not only offensive to me, but to friends who served in Vietnam as well. Where were President Bush's sons during the Vietnam War? They appear to be in the same age group as Mr. Clinton, yet no mention was made that they served our country. Vice President Dan Quayle's "bought" stint in the National Guard has conveniently not been mentioned this time around, nor has Mr. Bush's son's role in the savings and loan scandal that has and continues to cost the taxpayers of this country billions of dollars. Whether one is a Democrat or a Republican, and regardless of one's choice on Nov. 3, Mr. Bush lost the support of many of us with his emphasis on the character issue. If anything, it shows that his character is certainly in question by his continual bypassing of the issues that are far more critical to the American people. I am glad to see this campaign at an end, so that we can get back to healing a nation that Mr. Bush does not seem to think needs healing.
