Reston Land gave its annual fall tour a new twist this year by combining its progressive luncheon for Realtors with an exhibition of more than 100 works of art by nine local artists. The artists' works were installed at model homes. This year's tour was open to the public, and Reston Land estimates that traffic through the Reston visitors center and model homes increased by 50 percent during the 12 days of the tour. * Dan O'Brien, CRS, GRI, an associate with the Prudential Preferred Properties' Falls Church office, recently attended a masters conference held for the company's top associates. During the Elite Retreat Conference, a two-day professional development event, expert national speakers and top local agents addressed the sales associates on ways to enhance their service and improve business. Mr. O'Brien was one of the speakers. He regularly speaks on new trends in the real estate business. * Century 21 Teachers Inc. in Herndon has reported a successful third quarter. After three years in business, its staff has grown from two to 85 associates. Owners Lonnie L. Stock and Bob Comerford recently attended the International Relocation Consultants Convention in Nashville. Under their leadership, this office of Century 21 Real Estate has achieved Centurion status by providing service resulting in award-winning production levels. The office has earned more than $1 million in gross closed commissions since January. * K. Hovnanian, one of the country's largest builders, has just added new management personnel to keep pace with its growing number of communities. Lauren Batdorf has been appointed sales manager at Montclair in Prince William County, Bertie Culp has been named sales manager at Barden Oaks in Oakton, and Viki Garon has been selected as sales manager for Ashburn Village in Loudoun County. In addition, Rick Gibboney is the new sales manager at Bull Run in Manassas, Jeff Satre has been appointed sales manager at Sully Station in Centreville, and Bob Crosby has joined K. Hovnanian as project director of the communities of Montclair, Fairview Square and Beau Ridge. MARYLAND Mount Vernon-Weichert, Realtors, recently announced the top agents in the company's Bowie office for the third quarter of 1992: Bill Franklin was honored as both the office top producer and top salesperson. Mr. Franklin has production totaling more than $1.8 million during the three-month period. Also honored were those agents who had more than $1 million in production during the quarter - Mel Baker and Pat Springman. Mr. Baker also was named the office's top lister, bringing in 14 new listings in three months. * Ellyn Hotek recently transferred to the Germantown office of Shannon & Luchs Realtors. Mrs. Hotek, who has been a sales associate for five years, was recognized as rookie of the year in 1988 by her former company and in 1991 was top producer. Mrs. Hotek is a member of the Montgomery County Association of Realtors, the Northern Virginia Association of Realtors and the National Association of Realtors. * Leigh Reed has been appointed to the position of public relations reporter for the Bethesda office of Mount Vernon-Weichert, Realtors. Ms. Reed was the office's top salesperson in 1991. DISTRICT The MacArthur Boulevard office of Shannon & Luchs Realtors has announced its top producers and top lister: John Mark Nieman and Nancy Hashem were recognized as the top producers for October, and Ms. Hashem also was top lister. Also in Shannon & Luchs, three sales associates were named certified buyer agents: Donna Hanousek, Cathy Cormack and Lynn McQueen, associates from the company's Capitol Hill office, have successfully completed the Shannon & Luchs Academy of Real Estate's buyer agent certification course. Shannon & Luchs requires that all associates become certified before acting as buyer agents. * Trammell Crow Residential Services - Mid-Atlantic (TCRS), a residential property management firm that manages a wide variety of apartment communities in the Washington area, has appointed Lili M. Friedman director of market research. In her new position, Ms. Friedman will conduct a variety of multifamily market research studies used to track emerging trends and identify opportunities to enhance asset value.
