After standing mute at President-elect Bill Clinton's first post-election news conference last week, the senator from Tennessee uttered a few words - very few - at the second Clinton news conference yesterday. Befitting his impending status as vice president, Mr. Gore spoke only after remarks by Mr. Clinton, House Speaker Thomas Foley, Senate Majority Leader George Mitchell and House Majority Leader Richard Gephardt. He hailed the return of one-party domination of the executive and legislative branches and extolled the "absolutely superb" discussion with congressional leaders at dinner Sunday night.
