Mr. Runyon also told the National Press Club that hours will be extended at more than 5,000 post offices across the country to help meet the expected Christmas rush. Mr. Runyon said progress to cut costs means the price of a stamp may be held constant through 1994. Without the money-saving measures the agency was facing a $2.2 billion deficit in fiscal 1993 and a 35-cent stamp price in 1994, Mr. Runyon said. This article is copyright 1992 The Washington Times.
