Shari Savage, 34, of York, Maine, was attacked Tuesday afternoon outside a supermarket in the shopping mall where she worked, police said yesterday. With the help of a witness who hit the attacker in the face with her pocketbook, a police officer arrested the woman's estranged husband, David M. Edwards, 50. Mr. Edwards, of White Bear Lake, Minn., was charged with attempted first-degree murder, and was ordered held on $200,000 cash bail pending a preliminary hearing scheduled for Dec. 2. Miss Savage, who was reported in fair condition yesterday, works at Bradlees department store in the Newington Mall. A witness said Mr. Edwards came to the store once Tuesday, then returned shortly before the attack. S=NEW STORY Painting by Warhol fetches $3.7 million NEW YORK - Andy Warhol's "Marilyn x 100," a silkscreen of 100 images of the actress's face, brought $3.74 million as the second week of the fall art auctions got under way. It was not the highest price paid for a Warhol work; his "Red Shot Marilyn" brought $4 million in 1989. The London-based advertising magnate Charles Saatchi was the seller of "Marilyn x 100" at Tuesday's auction at Sotheby's. The 1962 canvas shows half the portraits - from a publicity still - in color, half in black and white, in a grid format. Another 77 works of contemporary art, estimated to be worth from $26 million to $33 million, were up for sale. Fifty-one sold for a total of $23.4 million, said Sotheby's spokesman Matthew Weigman. A big surprise was the $1.9 million sale of the 1984 neon work "One Hundred Live and Die" by Bruce Nauman, which had been expected to sell for up to $800,000, Mr. Weigman said. S=NEW STORY Woman gives birth on parked jetliner IMPERIAL Pa. - A USAir jet became a makeshift delivery room for a woman who went into labor after boarding a flight home to California. "It was rather tight in there," paramedic Michael Krantz said after checking Adrian Harris' 8-pound, 13-ounce boy. The jet was parked on a tarmac at Pittsburgh International Airport on Tuesday. Emergency crews sped to the jet to help with the delivery. Mrs. Harris, of San Diego, and her baby, born one month premature, were doing fine at Ohio Valley Hospital in suburban Pittsburgh, a hospital spokeswoman said.
