In addition, many of those who admitted the practice thought their risk of getting the deadly disease was none or slight, indicating a high level of ignorance, the study said. "Our findings show clearly that enhanced community-based resources and prevention efforts are now urgently needed for reaching gay men in smaller cities who have been neglected in AIDS prevention relative to their urban counterparts," said the study from the Medical College of Wisconsin in Milwaukee. The report was carried in the November issue of the Archives of Internal Medicine, an American Medical Association publication. The researchers said they interviewed nearly 2,000 men as they entered homosexual clubs in 16 towns during three-night periods in early 1991. This article is copyright 1992 The Washington Times.
