Murray \CR THE WASHINGTON TIMES Hillary Rodham Clinton said through an aide yesterday that she expects to use the traditional title of first lady, and she denied a televised report, also reported by The Washington Times, that she prefers to be called "presidential partner." "The reference there is completely false," said her press secretary, Lisa Caputo. "It is not her view. It is not her view at all. Mrs. Clinton [will be] first lady and will be known as first lady." She said there was no intention to imply that Mrs. Clinton expects to share power with her husband. WUSA-TV (Channel 9)'s Mike Buchanan, who broadcast the report Wednesday night, said yesterday that a Secret Service agent told him and other reporters of Mrs. Clinton's preference. Miss Caputo, who asked Channel 9 for a correction, said the correction was important because the report cast a misleading tone to a story in The Times about Mrs. Clinton's speech to the Children's Defense Fund. She also said Mrs. Clinton prefers to use her full name. This article is copyright 1992 The Washington Times.
