"It's overwhelming. . . . There has never been a crowd like this that we know of - twice," said Stan Lockridge, Civic Center director. The crowd was bigger than any Elvis Presley drew in Monroe, he said. The fans were orderly when ticket sales began, although some people pushed down police barricades and ran past officers late Sunday. Mr. Brooks added the Nov. 6 and 7 dates because of demand for tickets for his Nov. 13 concert. Some fans said they'd been waiting outside the arena since 5 a.m. Sunday. Many brought ice chests, blankets, food, sodas, portable televisions and headsets. S=NEW STORY Man killed after fall from highway bridge MOBILE, Ala. - A man fell from a fog-covered interstate highway bridge yesterday and was struck by two cars, authorities said. The victim, who was not immediately identified, was pronounced dead at the scene. State Trooper Jonathon Pratt said the man was driving west on Interstate 10 across Mobile Bay about 7:45 a.m. when his car struck a retaining wall and he got out. The man apparently lost his balance in dense fog and fell from the bridge, Mr. Pratt said. He landed on U.S. 31 on the Mobile Causeway and was struck by two vehicles, throwing him 75 feet.
