MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - Pat Buchanan abruptly ended a speech at Middle Tennessee State University in the face of persistent heckling from a group of students chanting, "Go home, Pat." Mr. Buchanan's appearance Tuesday, in an effort to bolster support for President Bush, was interrupted by about 25 protesters in the crowd of nearly 200. "These folks have got a right to raise their signs and protest, but let our friends hear us, O.K.?" Mr. Buchanan asked. "Let's give a hearing to what we have to say." But The Nashville Banner reported that shouting between the protesters and the Bush supporters in the crowd grew, the Republicans chanting, "Four more years," and the hecklers, "Go home, Pat." Mr. Buchanan then gave up on his speech. This article is copyright 1992 The Washington Times.
