But in a discussion with Michigan residents after a town meeting Friday night, he said he had thought a lot about life as president and wanted to do things a little differently. For starters, he sees his inaugural being modeled on that of a famous Republican president from the turn of the century. "You know, Teddy Roosevelt . . . stood on Inaugural Day and shook hands with 50,000 Americans. Sure did," Mr. Clinton said with a gleam in his eye. "I have this idea that we somehow can all just almost lock arms and go down Pennsylvania Avenue." "But what if it's raining or sleeting?" a man demanded. "Listen, if it's raining or sleeting, it'll be a warm day in Washington," he said, laughing. He also said he especially wanted to avoid becoming isolated in the Oval Office and wanted to continue to play his saxophone even if it might seem "undignified for the president."
