BELGRADE, Yugoslavia - American chess ace Bobby Fischer, playing white,
failed yesterday to achieve the win that would clinch victory in his $5
million rematch against Boris Spassky.  Mr.  Spassky, trailing nine games
to five, played to a draw in a game that featured the Ruy Lopez opening,
Breyer Variation.
