PISCATAWAY, N.J. (AP) - Police searched yesterday for a woman who was apparently abducted with her 3-year-old daughter when she pulled up in her minivan at a traffic light. The girl was later found unharmed. The woman's husband and her 8-year-old son made televised appeals for her safe return. The 3-year-old was dropped off outside a day care center hours after Tuesday night's abduction and the unoccupied van was found nearby. Authorities said they suspect Gail Shollar, 35, was kidnapped but do not know why. Robert Shollar reported his wife and child missing early Wednesday after he woke up and discovered they had not returned from a shopping trip to nearby Edison. He had stayed home to look after the couple's son and 10-year-old daughter. Middlesex County Prosecutor Robert Gluck would not comment on whether the child said a weapon was used. Groceries and the woman's purse were found in the van, but investigators would not say if money remained in the purse. Police said they have no suspects. Fliers with the missing woman's picture were pasted throughout this central New Jersey township of 47,000. Police used a helicopter and dogs to look for her, and friends and neighbors of the family helped in the search. In a plea on television Thursday night, Mr. Sholler said his wife "is the mother of three children who love her very much. Whatever it takes, please let her go." Their son, Bobby, who was crying, said, "I love her very much and she was a good mom." This article is copyright 1992 The Washington Times.
