Police said they have not ruled out foul play, but some officials involved in the investigation said they suspect that Anna M. Lassiter may be hiding out with her daughter, Egypt. Ms. Lassiter's parents contacted police about 10 p.m. Thursday to say their daughter and granddaughter were missing. They had received an anonymous phone call that the woman and her daughter had been left in the woods by Oxon Run Park and Wheeler Road in the Congress Heights area. The two were last seen leaving their home in the unit block of Elmira Street SE Thursday night, with the missing woman driving a blue, two-door, T-top 1984 Mustang with the Maryland license plate SNJ-115. Metropolitan Police, fire department officials and U.S. Park Police teamed up for an extensive search of the area in and around the woods. The search was called off after several hours and resumed yesterday without success. Anyone with information on their whereabouts should call the Metropolitan Police Department's missing persons branch at 202/576-6771. This article is copyright 1992 The Washington Times.
