LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) - Nobody called on Al. Vice President-elect Al Gore stood stiff-backed and silent during Bill Clinton's first news conference as president-elect. Mr. Gore's appearance seemed designed to underscore the important role Mr. Clinton has said Mr. Gore will have in the new administration. "He has been here all day working with me, and I think this is perhaps unprecedented, but quite good for the country," Mr. Clinton said. "I think it will strengthen and help us as we move along." Mr. Gore was not asked any questions. Mr. Clinton said he and the Tennessee senator "have continued the partnership we established in the campaign."
