The deaths of Gregory Lemont Boykin, 18, of the 700 block of Taylor Street NW and Wanda Lavern Brown, 21, of the 4000 block of Illinois Avenue NW combined with three other murders Thursday and early yesterday to make the bloodiest 24 hours in Prince George's County in almost five years. The last time five persons were killed in 24 hours was Jan. 22, 1988, when five persons died in an attack on Brightseat Road. Thursday's killings pushed the county homicide total to 123 this year, compared with 127 at the same time last year. In the double murder, police arrested Larry Venson Washington, 21, of the 1100 block of Kennebec Street about 2 a.m. yesterday and charged him with two counts of first-degree murder. Cpl. Carol Landrum, a county police spokeswoman, said Mr. Boykin and Miss Brown were visiting Mr. Washington when the two men apparently began arguing about 10:35 a.m. Cpl. Landrum said she does not know why the men argued. Police said Mr. Washington pulled a gun and shot Mr. Boykin and Miss Brown, the parents of a 6-month-old girl who was found unharmed next to the body of her mother. In an unrelated case early yesterday, police arrested Thomas David Wallace, 26, of the 4000 block of Warner Avenue in Landover for the murder of his neighbor and friend Tyrone Anderson of the same block. Mr. Wallace was charged with first-degree murder and is being held without bond in the county Detention Center. Cpl. Landrum said Mr. Wallace, Mr. Anderson and another man went out drinking Thursday and returned to Mr. Wallace's apartment around midnight to watch television. But Mr. Wallace went to get a gun after he and Mr. Anderson began arguing over cigarettes. Their friend tried to intervene, but Mr. Wallace told him to move and shot Mr. Anderson once in the head, police said. The friend, who was not identified, jumped from the apartment balcony and called police from a neighbor's home. A few minutes later, Mr. Wallace called police and reported that Mr. Anderson had shot himself in the head. Mr. Wallace was arrested at the apartment, and Mr. Anderson was pronounced dead at 12:35 a.m. yesterday. Two other homicides occurred Thursday night. About 11:23 p.m., Shaunte Darryl Baldwin, 18, of the 2300 block of Brooks Drive in Suitland was shot to death after an argument with an 18-year-old in an apartment in the 2400 block of Darel Drive in Suitland. Police have issued a warrant for the 18-year-old's arrest. About 20 minutes later in the 6600 block of Greig Street in Seat Pleasant, a man was fatally shot during a robbery attempt. Police said four men ordered three others to lie on the ground. Two of the intended victims ran, but the third, James Scott Briscoe, 19, of the 3400 block of Dodge Park Road in Landover, was shot and killed, police said.
