MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) - Vlade Divac scored 25 points and Byron Scott added 19 last night to lead the Los Angeles Lakers to a 110-106 exhibition victory over the Washington Bullets. Divac connected on 10 of 14 shots from the field as the Lakers' exhibition record improved to 5-2. The Bullets dropped to 2-4. Divac also grabbed seven rebounds, and Sam Perkins added 21 points and eight rebounds. Magic Johnson, returning to competition this season after a year-long retirement after testing positive for the HIV virus, played 31 minutes, collecting 13 points and 14 assists. Center Pervis Ellison led the Bullets with 18 points and 12 rebounds, while Rex Chapman and rookie forward Tom Gugliotta collected 13 each. The Lakers led 52-49 at intermission, and eventually built a 14-point advantage late in the third quarter. The Lakers maintained a double-digit advantage until midway through the fourth when Washington made a run. Ellison and Gugliotta led the charge as the Bullets cut the lead to 104-101 with 1:26 remaining. Two free throws by Perkins and four straight by Scott in the final 55 seconds offset a Gugliotta three-pointer and a 10-footer by Harvey Grant with 10 seconds left.
