TAMPA, Fla. - Mario Lemieux stretched his goal-scoring streak to 12 games with a pair of goals and Kevin Stevens also scored twice as the Pittsburgh Penguins rallied to beat the expansion Tampa Bay Lightning 5-4 last night. Lemieux, the NHL's scoring leader with 18 goals and 20 assists for 38 points, got what proved to be the winning goal on a power play at 14:43 of the second period when he beat former teammate Wendell Young for a 5-3 lead. Lemieux's goal-scoring streak is four games short of the NHL record of 16 set by Harry Broadbent in 1921-22 and ties Cy Denneny and Dave Lumley for the fifth-longest in NHL history. The Lightning, who overcame Lemieux's first goal to take a 3-1, first-period lead, made it 5-4 midway through the third period when Rob Ramage scored during a two-man power play. But Tampa Bay was unable to prevent its fourth straight loss, all by one goal. Lemieux wasted little time in introducing himself to the sellout crowd of 10,425 at Expo Hall, taking a feed from Jaromir Jagr 1:25 into the game and beating Young for his 17th goal of the season. The Lightning evened the score just over two minutes later when Chris Kontos scored on a power play, knocking in the rebound of John Tucker's slap shot. It was Kontos' 11th goal, three more than he's scored in any full NHL season. Rob Zamuner and Bob Beers scored 70 seconds apart late in the first period to give the Lightning a 3-1 lead.
