Wymon Henderson returned an interception 46 yards for another score as Denver (6-3) won its eighth straight home game. The Broncos are 18-2-1 against AFC East teams at Mile High Stadium since 1969. Denver appeared to be in jeopardy after two quick turnovers early in the fourth quarter. The Jets (2-7) converted Brian Washington's interception into a field goal to cut Denver's lead to 20-16. Less than two minutes later, Denver receiver Shannon Sharpe fumbled after a nine-yard reception, giving the Jets possession again at the Denver 47-yard line. But two plays later, Denver cornerback Le-Lo Lang stripped the ball from Freeman McNeil and recovered at midfield. The Broncos converted that miscue into an insurance score six plays later as Greg Lewis bulled one yard with 6:54 left. Elway's 24-yard pass to Marshall set up the touchdown. Denver took a 17-6 halftime lead thanks to the Marshall and Henderson touchdowns. This article is copyright 1992 The Washington Times.
