Mourning, who on Thursday agreed to a $26.25 million, six-year contract, had three rebounds and a blocked shot. The former Georgetown star was the No. 2 pick in the NBA draft behind Shaquille O'Neal. Mourning scored Charlotte's first basket on a 15-footer, but missed badly on a hook shot, had a turnaround blocked by Davis and was charged with two fouls in the first two minutes. Mourning played only seven minutes in the half, getting his fourth foul just 4:55 into the second quarter. He sat out the entire third quarter. With the score tied at 109, Davis cleared a defensive rebound following Larry Johnson's shot and was fouled by Kenny Gattison. Davis shot an air ball on his first free-throw attempt. After a Charlotte timeout, he made the second. This article is copyright 1992 The Washington Times.
