Acres played the last three seasons for the Orlando Magic and his first two NBA seasons with the Boston Celtics. The 6-foot-11, 230-pound center has career averages of 3.6 points and 4.1 rebounds in 357 games. Acres was a second-round draft choice of the Dallas Mavericks in 1985. He played one season in Italy and one in Belgium before signing with Boston as a free agent in May 1987. He was selected by the Magic in the 1989 expansion draft. Copa did not play in the Rockets' first three games. The 6-10 Marquette graduate averaged 1.5 points and 1.1 rebounds in 33 games for the San Antonio Spurs last season. KINGS SIGN FREE AGENT The Sacramento Kings signed free-agent point guard Stan Kimbrough to temporarily replace starter Spud Webb, who was put on injured reserve with torn wrist ligaments. The 5-11 Kimbrough, who played for the Kings during the preseason, was released Nov. 2 by the club. He played for the Detroit Pistons in 1989-90 and also spent time in the Continental Basketball Association. Webb tore the ligaments in his left wrist during the Kings' victory Sunday over the Los Angeles Lakers. HAWKS' AUGMON RETURNS The Atlanta Hawks announced that injured second-year guard Stacey Augmon will return to the team for tonight's game against the Mavericks in Dallas. Augmon, who averaged 13.3 points a game as a rookie, had minor arthroscopic surgery Oct. 30 on his left knee. He has missed the Hawks' first four regular-season games.
