The victory was Philadelphia's fourth in a row, a stretch in which the Flyers scored 24 goals. Just 41 seconds into the game, Lindros gave the Flyers the lead when he put a rebound past Ottawa goaltender Peter Sidorkiewicz. Mark Pederson doubled the lead at 11:03 on a power play with a slap shot from low in the right circle. Neil Brady opened the scoring for the Senators 3:29 later on a power play when he put a rebound of his shot past Philadelphia goaltender Dominic Roussel. The Flyers led after the first period for just the second time this season, the other coming Saturday against Montreal. Philadelphia put the game away in the second period with a four-goal run. Mark Recchi was credited with a goal at 4:04 after his centering pass bounced off the skate of Ottawa defenseman Brad Shaw and into the net. Recchi has 10 goals and 16 assists in his last 11 games. Forty-two seconds later, Brent Fedyk, who has 12 points in the last four games, redirected a pass from Lindros for his eighth goal of the season. Lindros scored again at 7:37 off a scramble in front of the net, and Claude Boivin scored for the second straight game 38 seconds later to boost the Flyers' lead to 6-1. Jeff Lazaro tipped Norm Maciver's shot out of the air at his waist at 18:34 to narrow the lead to 6-2. Lindros got his third goal on a power play at 1:53 of the third off a pass from Recchi in the slot. Lindros is second among NHL rookies with 25 points, trailing only Winnipeg's Teemu Selanne (26). Philadelphia "Crazy Eights" line of Lindros (No. 88), Recchi (8) and Fedyk (18) has 29 points in the past three games. This article is copyright 1992 The Washington Times.
