INFECTION WAS BROWN'S ENEMY: A recent viral infection was the probable cause of the dizziness that led to the cancellation of Simon Brown's WBC super welterweight title fight Saturday night with Terry Norris, Las Vegas neurologist Margaret Goodman said Sunday. Brown's neurological examination was "essentially negative," Goodman said. The bout hasn't been rescheduled yet. USA TOPS SWEDEN AT DAVIS CUP: Andre Agassi defeated Nicklas Kulti 6-7 (7-4), 6-2, 6-4 Sunday in Minneapolis to close out the USA's 4-1 Davis Cup semifinal win against Sweden. Magnus Larsson beat Jim Courier 2-6, 7-6 (8-6), 7-6 (7-5). RANDOM TESTS FOR SWIMMERS OK'D: U.S. Swimming approved random offseason drug testing and tabled a plan to award prize money for medals at the 1994 World Championships and '96 Olympics Saturday. The drug testing, for steroids only, will involve the USA's top 150 swimmers, based on world ranking.
