Prosecutors will argue that the former heavyweight champion, convicted of rape, is a threat to rape again, and is a risk to flee if released on bail. Special prosecutor J. Gregory Garrison will recommend that an appeal bond be denied and that Tyson be sentenced to six-to-10 years in prison. MARCH MADNESS RETURNS: The NCAA men's basketball tournament resumes Thursday night with regional semifinals in Philadelphia and Albuquerque, N.M. In the East, Duke, which has beaten its first two tournament opponents by a combined 39 points, faces Seton Hall and Massachusetts meets Kentucky. In the West: Florida State, without injured point guard Charlie Ward, plays Indiana, and New Mexico State takes on UCLA. WOMEN'S TOURNEY RESUMES: The road to the women's Final Four continues with regional semifinal play in the NCAA tournament. The hottest team in the field may be Miami, which has won 30 consecutive games. The Hurricanes play Vanderbilt in the East regional semifinals. Virginia plays West Virginia in the second semifinal. Defending national champion Tennessee plays Western Kentucky in the Mideast. WISCONSIN HIRES JACKSON: Former New York Knicks coach Stu Jackson was hired Wednesday as basketball coach at Wisconsin. Jackson, who has one year of head coaching experience, is hoping to turn around a Badger program that has had only one winning season in the last 12 and hasn't been to the NCAA tournament since 1947. SABRES DOWN MAPLE LEAFS: The Buffalo Sabres beat the Toronto Maple Leafs 5-2 Wednesday as Donald Audette and Alexander Mogilny each scored two goals. MORE TALK IN NHL BATTLE: NHL owners and players negotiated for nine hours Wednesday, but failed to resolve their differences and declined to discuss the talks. Negotiations resume Thursday with a strike set for Monday. He was given the option by doctors of resting or having surgery. OLAJUWON SAYS THREE WEEKS: Suspended Houston Rockets center Hakeem Olajuwon says it might be three weeks before his injured hamstring will allow him to resume playing. Olajuwon filed a grievance Wednesday with the NBA Players Association against the Rockets for suspending him.
