In response to some of what I've seen going back and forth, concerning
the HOWTO, I have one or two things to say.

I appreciate the efforts of both Eric and Joey in providing the java-linux
community with a source of answers for the port. I would, however, like to
stress that the bickering that has been taking place recently has no place
on this list and should be continued through private correspondence to save
the 800 other users of this list the additional waste of bandwidth.

After reviewing Eric's HOWTO, I am both impressed with the organization and
clarity which it presents. To be quite frank, he seems better suited to the
task, due to prior experience and the time he has to devote to the
document. I am in no way belittling Joey's efforts, yet should he continue
to behave like nothing more than a jealous child, I will have little choice
but to refuse to acknowledge any efforts he makes towards this project. Joey
needs to remember that this is being done for the good of Linux users, not
for himself.

Finally, I wish to address the references that have been made
about Blackdown and some sort of informational imperialistic attitude which
it is supposed to bear. Blackdown was setup solely for the benefit of other
users, providing them with a source for specialized information. We have
no desire to monopolize all resources for Java-Linux or anything else for that
matter. We simply do what we can.

On a lighter note...

Sun Microsystems, Redhat Software, Specialized Systems Consultants, and
Caldera Inc., have all been contacted for support of an upcoming competition
for all Java-Linux users. We will be hosting our own search for both
the best Applet, and the best Standalone Java application.

The winning entries will of course take place on the Java-Linux page, which
is soon to be revamped and redesigned. Any suggestions or questions concerning
either of these topics should be addressed to karl@ncm.com.

Thank you again for your continued support for Randy's efforts.

Cheers,
Karl Asha
