It has been suggested that many knowledgable students who might be
looking to pick up extra money maybe on these lists. I don't want
to abuse these mailing mailing lists but does anyone know of any
good sources of computer manpower at MIT? I've already submitted
the following to the student employment office, but that seems to be
a fairly general audience. Any sources of help in the PC and Unix
fields are welcome (good Mac admins seems to be easier to find).

Thanks,
Philip Thompson

The CRL seeks to fill 2 additional part-time positions during
December and IAP with possible continuation through spring semester.
The positions will cover systems administration for PC, Mac and Unix
machines under the care of the CRL. These positions will assist in
the management of computer systems during an interim search period
for permanent staff and will work closely with CRL staff. Those
interested should send resume via e-mail addressed to Mary ONeil
(roneil@mit.edu) and myself (phils@mit.edu) before Christmas.

The positions will require 10-20 hours per week with regular hours
during school the terms with additional hours possible during IAP.
All position require a working knowledge of Ethernet / IP networking
(facility with Athena is a plus). Applicants should be resourceful,
be ready to learn quickly and have some experience with problem
assessment, prioritizing, troubleshooting and resolution.

UNIX Specialist - should be able to administer Athena and non-Athena
(Solaris, Irix & Ultrix) workstations. This includes installing OS
and third party software. Tasks will include regular backups and end
of term archiving, filesystem reorganization. The applicant should
feel comfortable with csh scripting and MIT's network services.

PC Specialist - will look after windows based PCs. The job will
involve routine maintenance of hardware, software and networks.
Should be comfortable with NFS and TCP/IP client/server machine
configurations and write fairly complex batch files. Experience
with Windows/NT and LanWorkplace is also desirable.
