Subject: PLEASE READ - Parking Permits

Parking permits for 2/1/96-8/31/96 will soon be available. The cost for
this part-year is $150. (More logistics below). The IS parking
coordinators are compiling lists of staff who need parking for this
part-year. **Please send me email ASAP to let me know if you need a
parking permit.** Also let me know if you would prefer to park in a lot
other than Hayward or Sloan and if you have any specific parking needs
(e.g., placards). Note that this does not guarantee you a parking
permit. Once we have a complete list of people who want permits, we
will be able to determine whether our allocation is large enough to meet
the need. Please respond even if you think you may be covered by an
allocation elsewhere in IS. The IS parking coordinators will compare
lists to make sure we have everyone covered once and only once.

More logistics:

1) As mentioned above, permits will cost $150 for the period 2/1/96 -
8/31/96. After that, permits will be issued annually at a cost of
$300/year. Payment will be accepted via check or payroll deduction.

2) Instead of paying $150 for the convenient lots, you may opt to pay
$75 for a permit in a remote lot on Pacific Street (beyond the Plasma
Fusion Center off Albany Street). Please let me know if you would
prefer this option.

3) Day passes, as we knew them, have been eliminated. Day passes will be
available for visitors only. Part-time employees, or any employee who
needs parking approximately 8 or less days per month may opt for a daily
parking permit. The cost of this permit is $25 plus $2/day when used.
Daily parkers may have to park in specified lots. There will be a daily
parking lot near east campus; however, the exact location has not yet
been determined. Please let me know if you would prefer this option.

More details to come as we receive additional information and the
applications from the parking office. In the meantime, please let me
know if you have any questions.

Thanks,

-Lorraine
