I'm going to put up a mini Java-Linux howto with some tips, pointers, 
muck ups, etc involved in using netscape as a java compiler, some scripts for
it, and a few pointers to getting started real fast and finding the answers
you want concerning java. I love the HOWTO, but I'd like to produce something
a tad more concise as well. Keep on the lookout. I'm sure you all know how
many years it takes me to do anything :)

I'm trying to compile a fairly extensive list of cool and useful places to 
go with java, so if you've got anything you haven't seen on the Links page
that you like, do let me know. 

On the subject of books, would anyone like to do a book review of the
Learning Java in 21 days? I plan to pick it up tomorrow, but I'd rather
hear the opinions of others, seeing as I tend to be a bit harsh with books.
Oh, and as soon as someone gets their hands on the new Java Nutshell book, do
let us know how it is. I trust we shant be disappointed.

Thank you to all of you who have offered mirror space. As soon as I 
get the time, I'm going to setup a proper mirror account to let you all 
get what you need as rapidly as possible. I reckon by next week there 
should be a proper mirror in every corner of the world. 

Finally, the applet competition has been announced, and I've got about 
20 entries so far. (http://www.blackdown.org/java-linux/Competition.cgi). 
I have yet to decide on some prizes, so if anyone has suggestions as to what
would be suitable, do let me know. And no, a SPARCcentre 1000 to compile
your applets doesn't constitute suitable ;-)

Please forgive my little outburst earlier today..I must have had a little
too much caffiene in my blood stream.
