Seagate ST32550N 1 Gig half height hard drive. When the drive is connected and powered up the drive sounds and feels as if it has spun up, but it doesn't make the click sound most scsi drives make after they have spun up. When booting on the alpha running OSF/1 the alpha gets the id string "SEAGATE ST32550N" of the drive but fails when tring to access the drive for reads. After the alpha has tried a few times the drive sometimes spins down. When connected to a Macintosh, the scsi diagnostics finds the drive and gets the id string successfully and also gets the error "Drive not ready". The fan is operating. Termination seems to be ok. We checked the voltage level of the power supplied from the drives power supply and they checked out fine. What can be done to recover the data from the drive?
