The repayment was in response to a story in the The Times, which reported that Ruth Cordova was paid for sick time and holidays for nearly four months after she left City Hall to become a Los Angeles County sheriff's deputy. Cordova wrote a $2,967 check to the city Friday for the overpayment, Holden's office said. It was unclear Friday whether Cordova would be required to repay nearly $900 more that she received as holiday pay after leaving City Hall.
