But rather than being bothered by it, his non-recognition gives him some amusement: "I can't count how many times I've talked with someone, and they'll ask me, 'Did you see such-and-such movie?' and I was in it!" Perfect strangers may begin to spot LeGros, though, now that Stacy Cochran's movie, "My New Gun," has opened. The surprise-a-minute role of Skippy, Diane Lane's seemingly guileless friend, gives LeGros his largest part yet, after an string of supporting stints in, among other films, "Drugstore Cowboy," "Where the Day Takes You," "The Rapture," "Blood and Concrete" and "Point Break." "I'm always being picked to play these guys living on the edge of society, though I don't know why," says the 30-year-old Minnesota native. "I mean, I'm really a nice, middle-class white boy who always did OK in school." Life in 1992, though, has become much more unsettling for LeGros than any movie. His father died of a heart attack at the beginning of the year, and it seemed as if the grief of that tragedy was reversed with his marriage last summer to Kristina Loggia. Misfortune, though, struck again, as LeGros and Loggia's prematurely born baby died. "But we've grown stronger," he says. "My wife is my best friend. And since I've had to confront emotions in myself that I never would have done on my own--I'm naturally a coward--my acting has grown stronger, too."
