Hickambottom announced last week that the Board of Education will vote Dec. 15 on whether to sell the property to Pasadena City College as a skills center or sell it to the highest bidder. PCC has $4 million available to purchase the property at 3081 Foothill Blvd., formerly the continuation high school. However, the site has been appraised at as much as $5.5 million. Negotiations may involve use of PCC facilities by the district students. At Tuesday's public hearing, PCC staff and students emphasized how a new skills center would be an asset to the community, but local residents raised concerns over potential traffic congestion and parking problems and the district's current financial hardships.
