Meanwhile, a source close to Streep said she was offered the role but declined after it appeared likely that the show would open in London instead of Los Angeles. The Lloyd Webber spokesman said neither the location nor the casting of the production has been settled, but Trevor Nunn will direct and John Napier will design the sets.
