American Airlines, the nation's largest carrier, and Continental Airlines said they will cut prices in response to Northwest's announcement reducing fares this winter on selected domestic flights. Northwest said Sunday that the reductions will be for flights between 22 markets. The Northwest fares are good for tickets bought by Thursday for travel through Feb. 25. They must be purchased 14 days prior to travel, St. Paul, Minn.-based Northwest said. The fares do not apply on certain dates and include some restrictions.
