Upjohn to Appeal Halcion Verdict: Upjohn Co. said it will appeal a
Texas jury's verdict recommending $1.6 million in compensatory damages to
the family of a former West Texas police officer who claimed that his use
of Upjohn's Halcion sleeping drug caused him to murder his best friend.
"Upjohn vehemently disagrees with the jury's decision and is pursuing all
available means of recourse, including the immediate filing of a motion
for judgment," Upjohn Chairman Theodore Cooper said in a statement.
