Kevin Elliott, 33, of Terryville, was struck by the bullet as he jogged near Pitch Reservoir, which borders this town in northwestern Connecticut. He died at the scene of a single gunshot wound, state police Sgt. Charles McIntyre said. Investigators have classified the shooting as an accident, McIntyre said. He declined to identify the hunter. Elliott was jogging on a dirt road near the reservoir, which is next to a state forest. Hunting is allowed in the area, and the man who fired the shot was with a group of hunters, police said. After the shooting, the hunters flagged down an off-duty police officer who called authorities, McIntyre said. This article is copyright 1992 The Los Angeles Times Home Edition.
