Barr said yesterday amid pro- tests about acquittal of a black youth on murder and manslaughter charges. Lemrick Nelson, 17, was accused of stabbing Yankel Rosenbaum, 29, a Hasidic scholar from Australia, in August 1991 during racial violence in Crown Heights, a predominantly black and Jewish Brooklyn neighborhood. City Council member Noach Dear said Barr told him, "The same as we did for Rodney King, we're going to do in this case." The department has brought civil rights charges against four white Los Angeles police officers virtually exonerated of crimi- nal charges in the beating last year of King, a black motorist. < 12 Die in Air Force Helicopter Crash< HILL AIR FORCE BASE, Utah - An Air Force MH-60G Pave Hawk hel- icopter crashed into the Great Salt Lake during rough weather, killing 12 people, authorities said. The only other person aboard was rescued from the water and hospitalized in serious condition, they said. The helicopter was on a joint Army-Air Force exercise when it went down Thursday night in the inland sea about 15 miles west of the base.
