He was acquitted on battery and disorderly conduct charges in Milwaukee and was traded to to the Phoenix Suns for Jeff Hornacek, Tim Perry and Andrew Lang. In exchange for Barkley, a six-time All-Star and one of the acknowledged superstars of the game, the Sixers acquired three of the Suns' starters. VINCENT CANCELS MEETING: Calling Gene Michael's lawyer Robert Costello unacceptable, Commissioner Fay Vincent Wednesday canceled a meeting with the New York Yankees general manager. Vincent planned to question Michael about allegations that Yankees owner George Steinbrenner had contacted team employees while he was suspended from baseball. The session will be next week with a new lawyer. CONDITIONS FAVOR FALDO: Conditions for Thursday's start of the 92nd U.S. Open championship seem to favor England's Nick Faldo.
