There's not much new from a year ago. All four division champions are making another run at the postseason. Each division has a favorite, a challenger and a potential surprise. PIRATES HAVE BIGGEST LEAD: As the baseball season starts up again, World Series champion Minnesota leads the American League West by 2 games over Oakland. In the AL East, the Toronto Blue Jays have won 60% of their games with Baltimore 4 games back. Over in the National League East, the Pittsburgh Pirates lead St. Louis by 4 1:2 games and Montreal by 5. In the NL West, Cincinnati has a 2-game lead over Atlanta. KNICKS CLEARED OF TAMPERING: An arbiter Wednesday cleared the New York Knicks of tampering in their pursuit of free agent forward Harvey Grant and validated the $17 million offer sheet he signed. The Washington Bullets had charged that the Knicks violated NBA rules by negotiating with Grant before July 1, the first day free agents are allowed to deal with other teams. The Bullets were notified of the deal July 2. LINDROS DEAL WORTH $15M OR MORE: Eric Lindros, the newly minted 19-year-old millionaire, acted tough and self-assured in his coming-out party Wednesday as a Philadelphia Flyer. "I'll earn the money," said the 6-4, 235-pound Lindros who signed a six-year deal with the Flyers reportedly worth between $15 million and $18 million with bonuses. "I'll give the effort and earn the money." DREAM TEAM SELLING OUT: The Dream Team is the hottest ticket in Barcelona and seats at the basketball finals are the hardest to get, according to officials of the local organizing committee. Requests for the men's basketball final outpaced requests for opening ceremony tickets. Both are sold out, as are tickets for the closing ceremonies, swimming, rhythmic gymnastics, judo and fencing.
