BLACKS LAG BEHIND IN DEGREES: Big-time college basketball and football are dominated by black athletes, most of whom fail to graduate within six years. That fact is reinforced by a graduation rate survey from the NCAA. Black athletes at some top schools in college sports lag far behind whites in getting degrees. Nebraska graduated 76% of white football players who began in 1983 and '84, but only 12% of black players.
